ABOUT ME

Hello! Welcome to my website. Here you’ll find updates on my journalism, cultural discoveries, travels and other movements.

I am a proud Scot, born and raised in Edinburgh.

I have lived in England for most of my adult life, initially in Manchester, where I read History of Art and spent too many hours on the dancefloor of  The Hacienda. After long stays in Clapham and Brixton, my most recent London hood was Balham – “Gateway to the South” – in leafy SW12.

Now employed by The Cairns Post in Far North Queensland, Australia, I have worked as a journalist since graduation, most recently at The Times of London.

I am blessed to have a vocation that rewards my natural, insatiable curiosity.

My other interests include nature, travel, culture, astronomy, ornithology, nephology, rare books, fine wine and Manchester City FC.

I’m also partial to a little Sauce & Nosh.

On December 31, 2009, my partner and I left the UK on a global recce, first stop Mumbai. We visited India, Sri Lanka, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru and Brazil.

After careful deliberation, we settled in FNQ.
