From September 2002 to May 2004, the (then) lovely Helen and I enjoyed a truly amazing adventure circumnavigating the globe*
We visited China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Easter Island, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Mexico and the USA. 20 countries!!!
Among the highlights? Angkor Wat. The Great Barrier Reef. Those funky Easter Islanders. The Salar de Uyuni.
Adrenalin rushes? Shooting Kalashnikov’s in Cambodia. Coming face to face with Giant Jumping Crocs in the Kakadu. Diving through a shark feeding frenzy. Cycling down the World’s Most Dangerous Road in Bolivia. In the rainy season.
* Helen was, and I’m sure remains, a very lovely gal. She just wasn’t very lovely to me. Still, I won’t hold that against her too much in the final reckoning. She probably did me a favour…
